Youth Bus Ministry

Posted by mfernandez on Sep 5, 2010 in Parents, Youth

Over the last two Saturdays, several of the teens have been canvassing in Middletown.  This is being done for the start of the new youth bus ministry.  This ministry will be run by teens, but it will be for anyone who would need a ride to church.  Please pray about this ministry.  We are asking for a 6-week, no excuse commitment, and our goal is to fill up our bus in those six weeks.

08.22.10 – AM Teen Sunday

Posted by mfernandez on Aug 22, 2010 in Parents, Youth

This morning was tremendous!  Thank you, Lord!

Today, at Grace Baptist Church, the teens led in greeting, ushering, singing, and PREACHING.  Praise the Lord!  Everything went so very well, and I thank the Lord for His goodness to us.

Jesse Green preached out of Exodus 18, and the truth about “able men.”  Tommy Depew preached out of Ezekiel 33 about the watchman.  May God help us to fear God and tell others of Christ.

The entire service was such and encouragement and truly edifying.  Please continue to pray for the teens who will be working to get to the Philippines in 2011.

What a Summer…

Posted by mfernandez on Aug 11, 2010 in Youth

Teens, it is difficult to believe how quickly this summer has gone by.  Many of you have already begun athletic practices, and your once “relaxed” schedules will get extremely busy again.

Just last night, I was able to attend MCS’s first football scrimmage at Fenwick HS.  It was great to see so many young men that I know.  Blake effortlessly knocked a few people down.  CJ played linebacker, and I know that Tommy B. and several others were out there.  To you and the all of the other GBC Youth, I say that I am praying for you all.

This summer was a great one, and it seems to me that there were several highlights, but the time spent with you all was at the top.  Teens, when your schedule with school and events gets busy, remember to make sure Christ has the preeminence.  Stay in His Word.  Stay on your knees, and live in the power of God’s Holy Spirit.

Catrina and I love you all, and will continue to keep you all in our prayers.

Tonight all teens will be in the main worship service for Communion.  Following the service, we will have our final gym night of the summer.  I cannot believe this summer has gone by so fast!

On August 22nd, we will be having our second Teen Sunday this year.  This will be the first year that we have had two Teen Sundays, and we are praying that the Lord will greatly bless.

Teen Sunday will be the day where the teens will conduct the entire service, both in the AM and PM services.  Please pray about your involvement.  We would also like to invite any parents that would want to help coordinate this day.  Please see Bro. Fernandez or Tate Green at your earliest convenience.

Special Thanks to Youth Workers – JULY

Posted by mfernandez on Jul 29, 2010 in Parents, Youth

Team,

As I was preparing the youth bulletin for August, I had to delete a lot of events that were done in July.  I did not realize how much was accomplished, but thank you to all of you.  July was, by far, our busiest month.  Looking over the events, it seems like things were spread out pretty good amongst the workers that were involved.  Thank you!  Things seem to slow down a little from here, but when you couple the youth ministry with everything else going on in our lives, it makes for a very busy time of year.  I just want to tell you thank you, and I praise God for each of you.

Bro. Fernandez

July Events Finished:
July 4th Parade
Youth Congress
Jr. High Boys Activity
Balloon Festival
Afterglow @ Green’s
Two Gym Nights
Outreach

07.11.10 – First Sunday Back

Posted by mfernandez on Jul 11, 2010 in Youth

Well, this past week was a tremendous encouragement to all of those, from GBC, who attended the National Youth Congress at Temple Baptist Church & Crown College.  The Lord blessed in a very great way.

Trip Update:

We arrived on Monday afternoon.  After settling into the dorms we went to the new Titantic museum in the Pigeon Forge area.  Tuesday we were at Dollywood for the majority of the day.  Wednesday we were at Camp Moriah, owned by Temple Baptist Church.

Wednesday night was the kickoff service.  Dr. Clarence Sexton preached a great message about Obadiah and the fear of the Lord.

On Thursday night, Dr. Mitch Campbell preached a well-needed message about “How to choose a mate that will stay on the ship.”  This is so difficult for many teens in this day and age.  If this decision is as important as we say it is, then please take time to track down this message and listen to it.  In the message, Dr. Campbell addresses both the young men and the young women with practical thoughts.

On Friday night, John Bishop took the pulpit.  What an encouragement to see this dear man whom God is using inspite of the handicaps he has developed.

Since We’ve Been Back:

Since we have been back, the Lord has blessed us.  Today, one of the young ladies befriended a teen visitor.  She applied something she learned in Scott Pauley’s session, and she won this teen visitor to the Lord.  What is interesting and wondeful about the matter is that this young lady had prayed that God would allow her to lead her first convert to the Lord when she came back to town, following youth congress.  God answered the prayer on Sunday morning!  Praise Him!

A Must See:

When we were leaving the Youth Congress, we were given cards to fill out to write down what the Lord had done in our hearts during the week.  We have posted this completed cards on the youth ministry room.  Please drop by, see the pictures and see what the Lord did in the heart of the teens this past week!

07.08.10 – Thursday Morning Congress Update

Posted by mfernandez on Jul 8, 2010 in Youth

On Wednesday, the teens and workers spent the day at Camp Moriah Christian Camp.  The day involved many field games as well as swimming and a big water slide.  It was a hot day, but all went very well.

In the evening we had our kickoff service with Dr. Sexton preaching about Obadiah out of I Kings 18 and the fear of the Lord.  It was a great message that set the right tone for the rest of the week.  Please continue to pray for all of the teens and workers as we begin breakout sessions today.

07.06.10 – Youth Congress Update

Posted by mfernandez on Jul 6, 2010 in Youth

Well, Monday went by very fast, as did today (Tuesday).  On Monday, we made our way down to Powell, TN.  Upon arrival, we unloaded everything, and went to the new Titanic Museum.

On Tuesday, we left for our trip to Dollywood.  The day was not as hot as we anticipated, but we were there from 10:00 AM until about 7:00 PM.  After we returned to the Crown College Campus, the teens practice for the Youth Congress Choir.

Please continue to pray for for our safety and for the Lord to work in the hearts of the teens when the preaching begins on Wednesday.

Wednesday will begin with a field day at Camp Moriah and then the kickoff service at 7:00 in the evening.
